Father's Day Weekend and Brandon's First Swim

Wow the weeks are going by so quickly. We had a great weekend! Dominick and Lexi came down for Father's Day and we had a very wet weekend. Brandon is growing so quickly and is really mastering smiling.

I think I mentioned in last weeks entry that we swear Brandon smells food and thinks he needs to be a part of the meal. Well, we had not put his high chair together yet so we improvised with this. It is actually his bath lounger - its really neat because you do not have to fill a tub with water, you just pour it over him and it runs into the sink - but that is beside the point. He really seemed to like "eating" in it. And I loved that he was not in my lap, now don't think I don't love holding my baby, but I was always so scared to drip something hot on him.
Brandon "eating" with us. Yummy Mexican food.

Brandon has learned the adorable trick of blowing spit bubbles. I know, cute now, disgusting later. I have tried several times to capture it, but it never shows up in the pictures. Well, success is sweet! Here are the spit bubbles - they just look kind of shiny but they are there!

Mommy that really looks tasty. I think I might be ready for solids now!
Over the weekend, we finally got the high chair together. It was not a major production like we thought it was going to be. That is why we had put off putting it together. It only had two pieces!!! Brandon really likes it, and I like that it fits in a regular chair so it does not get in the way. He is still eyeing my food.
After dinner on Friday, the kids enjoyed some sprinkler time -- all 4 of them. Yes four!
Dominick and Lexi playing in the sprinkler.
Dominick getting ready to run through the sprinkler.
Brandon was watching and getting a little bored not being a part of the action.
Daddy decided to take Brandon through the sprinkler as a practice run for the pool.
Getting ready to go in the sprinkler. Doesn't Brandon look excited. Oh, the way we torture our child!
Getting wet!

I am still deciding if I like it Mommy!

Drying off.

The 4 wet children.
After the sprinkler trial run, we decided it was safe to move onto bigger water. The pool - not a kiddie pool, the big pool. I got Brandon dressed in his new swimming trunks, so cute, and lathered him up with sunscreen - SPF 70, you can't be too safe.
I am getting ready for swimming.
This is going to be awesome!
Now I am ready, you can't swim with our proper head gear!

I love this picture! We are on our way to the pool.
Okay, maybe I have changed my mind.
This might be fun.
Just relaxing in the water.
Brandon had such a good time.

We had to get out a little earlier than the kids wanted because Brandon got hungry from all that swimming.

That was fun, but exhausting Mommy!

Check out that diaper!!!
I could not find swim diapers small enough for him. Is that not hilarious?

Getting ready to head home.

Just some weekend fun!

Some crazy haired monster has my baby!
No, it is just Lexi with morning hair feeding Brandon his juice. She is so sweet with Brandon.

Father's Day!
Cody likes his new shirt. I think this means he has decided to be an Aggie after all.
Cody is reading a card from the kids. Notice the picture of them on the front. Just kidding!

Some new white shoes.

More shoes. He is going to have more than me.

Cody talking to Brandon. Uh, just so you know, the handle does come down. What a goof.

My smiling boy!
These pictures shows how quickly Brandon's mood can change.
Happy as can be!

Uh, not so sure.

Full on upset! Check out that crazy hair.

My sweet man hanging out on our bed. This is Brandon's spot in the mornings. We talk while I get ready. The little stinker will cry when I step into the bathroom and he can't see me. When I step back, he stops crying like "oh, there she is." Silly boy.

Sitting on the couch. I am 12 weeks old! How time flies.

I changed out some of Brandon's clothes on Sunday. We boxed up the newborn stuff (so sad, I only cried a little and said "look how small he used to be" a million times - Cody thought I was being ridiculous) and went through the 3 - 6 months stuff which is still ginormous on him! I guess we will have to stick to 0 - 3 months a little longer. It is a little difficult to dress him since he is so long and skinny. Things are too short, but way too wide!
I found this hat and had to try it out! He was also enjoying a new toy. It is on his arm like a bracelet. He kept putting it on his arm and then would scream because he could not get it off. Too cute!

Pop Rocks

I normally keep the blog to talking about Brandon, but this story was too good not to mention.

Let me set the stage:

So it is June 4 - the last day of school. The time was 2:00, and the end of the year party was in full swing. I had a wonderful parent bring gifts for the students. It was a cute basket filled with all sorts of goodies. The students eagerly dove into the baskets and began eating the assortment of candy. All of a sudden from across the room I hear a child scream, "Ouch, ouch. It hurts! It hurts!" Of course all of the parents converge on this student. She sticks out her tongue and cries again, "It hurts." We all began to laugh uncontrollably. She had a mouthful of Pop Rocks! Then the kids, begin who they are, all decided they needed to try them too. Pretty soon my entire class had entire mouthfuls. (I mean if you knew a candy was hurting someone would you not want to try it too.) Then one of my students asked, "Can I go to the nurse? I might need stitches! Oh, it hurts so much!" I responded with a baffled, "Seriously?"

And the moral of the story is, never give vintage candy to first graders.

Thankfully it will be another whole year before I have to deal with that again. I hope all of the teachers out there enjoyed this story.

Catching up - Brandon's 11 Weeks

I am caught up finally! Brandon turned 11 weeks on Sunday. We have noticed a serious increase in drooling. He better not be getting ready to cut teeth. I told him he was not allowed. He smiled - so I am taking that as a "Yes mommy!" Brandon has also started a very unusual behavior. He wants to eat with us at dinner. I swear he must smell food and he starts crying. He refuses to stay in his swing, crib, or play mat. Brandon wants to be at the table with us. We have started eating every meal with him in my lap. I have the balancing thing down now. We have plans to set up the high chair this weekend. At least that way I can eat with both hands and he can 'eat' with us.

Zonked out after a long trip back from Temple.
I love my swing - well sometimes.

Daddy is training Brandon early. They watch basketball together and I am sure talk strategy or whatever you talk about with basketball.

Brandon likes to watch TV if it is fast moving. Notice his eyes are still on the screen.

10 Weeks Old - June 7 thru 13

We had a very busy week. We saw the Henson side of the family on Sunday. Our cousin Brian was graduating from high school. There were over 400 students graduating. I can't believe he is going to college. On Friday night, I made the trip to Temple by myself. I know it is lame, but I was proud of myself. It is a three hour trip. It was not quite as hard as I thought it would be. Then on Saturday we visited with the Harden side of the family. We got to see the new additions to the family and found out there were more to come.

I am ten weeks old. A Big Boy!
I love his hair.

All dressed up for the graduation. I even put his shoes on him.
Adorable!

We are at the t.u. basketball arena. Brandon does not like it here.

We took this picture after we assured Brandon that he would be going to A&M! Whoop!

The sisters.
Kristina, Cynthia, Margaret, and Me

Daddy and Brandon watch the graduation. Brandon did really well.

Snugglebug!
It was very cold in there. Brandon had to snuggle up to stay warm. He still holds his binky in.

I am ready to meet new family.
Brandon was meeting some family for the first time. We had a great time seeing everyone.

He looks a little like he has the old man comb over. He really does have hair on the top of his head. Since Brandon sleeps on his stomach, he does not have hair just above both ears. It looks so weird. I just can't get enough of his smile.
