Brandon Turns 7 Weeks and Cody's 33rd Birthday

This weekend we had a get-together at our house for Cody's birthday. The old man is turning 33! My mom, 2 out of 3 sisters, and a brother-in-law came. We also had Dominick and Lexi this weekend. It was so much fun. Cody got to test out cooking hot dogs on the grill. He had never grilled hot dogs before - go figure? We had a great time hosting our first gathering.

On Sunday, Brandon turned 7 weeks old. I know I say every week 'I can't believe how big he is getting.' Well, I can't believe how big he is getting!!! He is learning so many things and is really beginning to play. Before I just think I was telling myself he was playing. Now he is following you when you talk and smiling occasionally (and not that involuntary smiling either!). His colic is doing much better. We are up only about 2 hours each night which is so much better. Sleeping through the night is still a wish at this point, but maybe one day soon. Brandon also turned himself over tonight. Cody put him on his stomach and whoosh....he flipped over to his back. Amazing! Then we sat there for like 30 minutes trying to see if he would do it again. No luck. He was probably thinking "Let's see how long they will watch. Haha!" Enjoy the pictures.

Doesn't Brandon look quite comfortable with Aunt Kristina. Now if we could just get Aunt Margaret to hold him.Doesn't Brandon look happy? Well his mouth is open, just like his mommy likes to take pictures.
These are two of my favorite pictures. You have to look at them right after each other.
"Where is my binky????"
"Oh, there it is."

Here are some new bath time pictures. Brandon is starting to enjoy his baths and always tries to drink the soapy water. It is hilarious.
Chilling in my bath lounger.
Yummy soap!

I swear he is trying to crawl!
This is his 'mad scientist' hair.
We were trying to capture Brandon's pouty face. He can pout already! A talent I sure he will put to good use.
What are you looking at?
Cody's birthday. I think we look pretty awake for the 5 hours of sleep we got. Well, Cody got a little more.

Six Weeks Old and Mother's Day

On Sunday, May 10 Brandon turned six weeks old. Each week seems to go faster than the one before. He is growing and changing right before our eyes. We finished our first week at Nana's, and I swear Brandon grew from the time I dropped him off 'til the time I picked him up. Brandon had learned how to turn his head from side to side when he is on his stomach. Such a big boy! We also had a very important doctors visit on Monday. Brandon was not gaining weight like his doctor wanted, but after Monday's weigh-in our minds were put at ease. Brandon weighed in at a huge 9lbs and 5oz. For those of you who are counting -- that is 2lbs and 1oz in two weeks!!! Our prayers were answered when we saw that scale - then Brandon proceeded to 'baptise' the nurse. We were so busy celebrating his weigh gain, that we forgot to watch the diaper. So funny! He seems so much bigger now. His colic has days that are getting better, and days that are not as good. We are working on sleeping longer stretches. Brandon now sleeps about 3 hours in a row at night, and yes that is a long time!

Sunday was also my first Mother's Day, and my mom's first Mother's Day as Grammy. Cody and I decided to surprise the families with an unannounced visit. We first stopped in Hearne to visit Cody's family, and then went to Temple to surprise my family. Boy, they were surprised. We had a great time. We got to eat at Cody's favorite Temple restaurant -- Jody's. On Mother's Day we went to College Station. My parents and Cynthia were helping Kristina move out of the dorm. So sad that I was unable to help with that. (Can you hear the sarcasm???) It was really nice to spend my first Mother's Day with Brandon and Cody and my family.

Grammy and Brandon are inseparable! Grammy is the world's greatest burper.
More burping!
And even more burping!

Aunt Cynthia and Brandon hang out.

Aunt Cynthia is on 'binky patrol'. If you want him to stay asleep, you will keep it in his mouth! Any suggestions for getting him to put himself to sleep?

First Day of School

Tuesday was our first day of school. I went back to my classroom of students, and Brandon went to his first day at Nana's. While it was very hard to leave him, I am really enjoying my time back at school.

I am smiling as I get him ready, but the smile soon turned to crying to the sitter, from the sitters to school, and sporatic crying throughout the day. Each day it has gotten easier to drop him off, but I don't miss him any less.

Brandon is 'totally cuter than daddy'!

Ready for our first day.

Brandon Turns Five Weeks Old

Our little guy is growing so fast. He turned 5 weeks on Sunday. He is finally big enough to wear newborn clothes! Well, he is still swimming in some of them, but we will take what we can get. It was a very eventful weekend. We did not get a ton of pictures, but enjoy the ones we did get.

Snoozing in his favorite spot -- our bed!
It is so funny that he sleeps with his hands like this.
